*Parts Counter Sales Associate – Interfaces with customers to understand their need for replacement parts, small lawn and garden hand tools as well as other for sale items.

This position requires strong communications skills for engaging customers as well as math and office skills. The desired individual must have a broad knowledge of AG, lawn and garden and lite commercial equipment as well as their respective parts. Selling, marketing, stocking and display experience is a plus.

Target Responsibilities:

  • Sells AG and outdoor power equipment parts to customers calling or walking into the store.
  • Fills parts requests for the service techs.
  • Participates in rolling inventory checks.
  • Greets customers in a friendly and timely manner.
  • Customer Service - Manage difficult or emotional customer situations.
  • Responds promptly to customer needs.
  • Solicits customer feedback to improve service.
  • Responds to requests for service and assistance.
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; responds well to questions.
  • Follows all company and vendor policies and procedures
  • Adaptability - Adapt to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands.

Daily Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Begins each workday with a positive attitude by encouraging each counter person to meet his/her daily and weekly goals.
  • Works to develop a sense of “team” in the parts department and across other departments.
  • Ascertains make, year, and type of part needed, inspect worn, damaged, or defective part to determine replacement required, or informs customer of part(s) needed according to description of malfunction.
  • Discusses use and features of various parts.
  • Reads catalog, microfiche viewer, or computer for replacement part stock number and price.
  • Fills customer orders from stock.
  • Prepares sales slip or sales contract.
  • Receives payments, make proper change, and wrap or bag merchandise for customer.
  • Receives and fill telephone orders for parts.
  • Informs customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
  • Examines returned part to determine if defective, and exchange part or refund money.
  • Receives and fill telephone orders for parts.
  • Alerts Parts Manager when stock is running low.

Weekly Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Marks and store parts in stockroom according to prearranged system.
  • Takes inventory of stock, brochures, bulletins, manuals and publications, and presents an accurate count to Parts Manager.
  • Sweeps and cleans stock room.
  • Advises parts manager of trends in parts usage. Monitors aging inventory and presents a report to department manager.

Quarterly Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Meets with Parts/Service Manager to discuss improvement processes needing implemented during the next quarter.

Annual Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Meets with Parts/Service Manager to discuss year-end results, goals, and objectives for the upcoming year.
